At the Sink
Developing a gum bichromate image is can be quite the task. All you need is are two (2) trays of suitable size for the paper and water.
- Fill a tray with warm water, make sure that is warm but not hot to the touch.
- Submerge the paper into this first bath.
- The unexposed potassium (ammonium) dichromate and color will lift from the paper and reveal a monochromatic (if it is the first layer) image.
- The print should be soaked for 10 minutes with gentle agitation. DO NOT touch the emulsion of the paper, this can damage the fragile gum bichromate surface.
- In the second tray of warm water, place the print face down for thirty (30) minutes.
